SEE was founded by Kevin Jackson, whose personal journey exemplifies the power of opportunity and mentorship. Kevin lost his mother before the age of five, and his father spent most of Kevin’s life in San Quentin prison. Raised by his maternal grandparents—who worked for a wealthy family—Kevin’s life took a pivotal turn when his grandparents moved to Brady, Texas, to manage their employer’s 25,000-acre ranch. The Moorman family, recognizing Kevin and his brother’s potential, treated them as their own. They provided enriching life experiences, including worldwide travel, and ensured the boys received a top-tier education at the Marine Military Academy, one of the country’s leading college preparatory schools. Reflecting on his formative years, Kevin often says, “Every child should experience two things: growing up on a ranch and being in the military.” Through scholarships and support, Kevin attended Southern Methodist University, where he studied Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Math. The Moorman family’s investment in his education, and their hands-on involvement helped shape his future, instilling a strong work ethic and positioning him for success in multiple fields. That foundation ultimately led Kevin to become a national voice for education, as well as a motivational speaker. As Kevin would say, “I was one of these kids who just needed somebody to care about my education. I would do the rest.”
